After closely reviewing a community-lead survey regarding the lifetime subscription fee for HathorPay developed by our team (HTR/FDT), we decided to meet with Hathor Labs yesterday to gather a broader opinion on this matter.
We believe it is possible to find middle-ground here and provide more options for the accessibility of our products. It is important to keep in mind that HTR/FDT is self-funded and only uses Hathor Labs for support and guidance in building on top of the Hathor Network.
All of our products are backed by dedicated research, testing, quality and customer service and this is sustained through the monetization of these same solutions. It is within our greatest interest to continue to produce top-of-the-line products built on Hathor Network and that these products be accessible for all, while at the same time, supporting our operational endeavours financially. With this in mind, we have added the following payment options for Hathor Pay.
Pay-per-use option with a 0.3% fee on every transaction (in HTR)
This additional pricing option aims to please all Hathorians by:
- Providing a massive reduction in the cost to trial HathorPay (Ex: sending 100 HTR costs 0.3 HTR in fees vs. the lifetime fee upfront cost of 100–200 HTR, which comes out to 16 cents at the moment of this post). Such a low entry point should now make HathorPay accessible for people who found the upfront $75 fee to be out of reach.
- Attributing more savings to HathorPay Lifetime customers in the long-term. People who have already purchased the lifetime access can rest easy that all their token sending transactions will remain feeless forever. For those that choose Pay-as-you-go, rest assured that it is possible to upgrade to the lifetime feeless access for the flat $75 at any future point in time.
Our team is coding away to add this logic into the next HathorPay update! We estimate this new pricing will be available in the next 30 days (much sooner if Google is quick to approve our latest update).
